PEKAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak reiterated that the move to list Felda Global Ventures Holdings (FGVH) Sdn Bhd on Bursa Malaysia would see settlers throughout the country getting a windfall.
Najib said settlers should not be worried about losing their allocations — including productivity bonus, festival aid, schooling aid and loans to renovate their homes — which they had been enjoying over the years.
“I can assure that settlers will continue to receive benefits and the listing should be good news for them.
“I will announce the amount some other time, but I can assure that one can take home more than RM500,” he said after opening the Al-Wardah Welfare and Education Club’s annual general meeting at Felda Chini Timur, near here, yesterday.
Najib, who is also the Pekan member of parliament, said settlers must not be influenced by certain quarters that had been going around claiming that the listing, expected by the middle of the year, would only bring losses to the settlers.
“I am sure the listing would bring better benefits to the settlers. All the rumours spread by irresponsible parties show that they are worried that the government’s plan to help the settlers gains strong support from the settlers.”
Speaking to around 6,000 Al-Wardah Club members, Najib said the decision to list FGVH was part of the transformation programme planned for the settlers and it showed that the government was always concerned and looked after the settlers’ welfare.
Najib also said clubs and associations must be led by genuine and dedicated leaders as this would enable the organisation to portray a positive image in public.
“Besides a capable leader, the members should also be committed and obey his instructions.”
