I received a visit from a group of Fulbright English Teaching Assistants from the United States at my office today and over tea I informed them that Malaysia is giving more emphasis to English because it is vital for Malaysians to have the competitive edge.
I did a walkabout in the Federal Territory today, where amongst others, I visited SMK (C) Chung Hwa, and met the residents of Kampung Puah Lembah in Wangsa Maju and the residents of the Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Kerinchi in Lembah Pantai.
I attended a gathering with the Pahang civil servants in Kuantan where I informed that the special commitee tasked to review the Public Service New Remuneration Scheme (SBPA) has been given three months to do so.
I met up with the members of the Malaysia Tamil Schools Community at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Kinrara. I expressed the need to convene a special conference to discuss and formulate a new blueprint for the future of Tamil schools in Malaysia.
