NANNING (China), April 1 (Bernama) — Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said a sustainable political solution was important for southern Thailand to end the frequent incidents of bomb blasts in the area.
The prime minister said Malaysia would continue to assist Thailand, its neighbour, in seeking a political solution in the interest of the well-being of the people in southern Thailand.
Najib was speaking to Malaysian journalists at Nanning Airport at the end of his one-day working visit here before returning to Kuala Lumpur.
He was commenting on a bomb blast at a hotel in Hat Yai yesterday in which 10 people were killed including one Malaysian and more than 300 others injured including 10 Malaysians.
The prime minister said he was saddened by such incidents, but it was difficult to prevent Malaysians from continuing to visit southern Thailand.
“Although we have advised our people not to go there, some have their own reasons or business dealings there, so they face the risks,” he said.
