KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will receive Sarawak’s second highest award, the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang, at a special investiture ceremony at the Astana here on Thursday.
The award carries the title Datuk Patinggi. It is conferred by Yang Dipertua Negri Tun Abang Muham- mad Salahuddin Abang Barieng in conjunction with Sarawakâ€™s 45th anniversary of Independence within Malaysia.
International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin and former Energy, Water and Telecommunications Minister Tun Lim Keng Yaik will receive the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title Datuk Sri.
The investiture is part of Najibâ€™s three-day working visit to Kuching and Miri beginning tomorrow.
The Deputy Prime Minister will meet state Barisan Nasional leaders as well.
Later on the same investiture day, he will hand over government aid to mission schools in Sarawak and Sabah at SMK St Thomas here; besides meeting Bidayuh political and community leaders at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) headquarters.
In the evening, he will close the three-day Sarawak Islamic Congress organised by the Sarawak Islamic Council.
On Friday, Najib will meet executive members of the Dayak Chamber of Commerce before flying to Miri, where he will then proceed to SMK Suai in Niah to hand over disaster relief aid to flood victims in the area.
He is scheduled to perform Friday prayers at Masjid At-Taqwa in Miri before visiting the landslide-hit area of Kampung Lereng Bukit and hand over relief aid to victims putting up at the Miri Red Crescent Society building.
