PETALING JAYA: The new Cabinet announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is refreshing with many of the long-standing “old guards” replaced.
Centre of Public Policy Studies chairman Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam said he hoped the new Cabinet would deliver as promised, based on the 1Malaysia concept announced by Najib, which emphasised the promotion of national unity, integrity and progress for all.
“It is refreshing as there are many new faces and that many of the long-standing old guards have been replaced.
“The Cabinet is more compact with 29 ministers and composed of many personalities who are performance-oriented, as promised by the premier,” he said, adding that members also had a relatively higher degree of integrity.
Social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said Najib’s Cabinet members were well advised to follow a Chinese maxim where all members of the administration must have their feet firmly on the ground and reach out to the masses.
They must understand their needs and wants, feel their pulse and do the right things to win over the hearts and minds of the people, he said.
“The public’s expectations of Najib’s administration are high and it is incumbent on the new administration to perform and deliver results based on a culture of integrity and excellence,” he said in a statement.
