JOHOR BAHARU, March 10 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said support for and confidence in the Barisan Nasional (BN) was now on the uptrend because it delivered on its promises unlike the opposition which was only good at talking.
“I feel in the last couple of days the rise in people’s confidence in the BN is because we have walked the talk. On the other hand, when the opposition makes promises, the people tend to be skeptical.
“As such, to continue getting the support of the people, (BN) leaders at all levels must walk the talk… promises must be kept,” he said at a “meet-the -people” session in Taman Setia Indah here today.
Najib said in just three years, the government had been able to translate projects planned into reality which had brought much benefit to the people.
“God willing, if in three years we have been able to convince the people, imagine what more we could do in the next five years to come,” he said.
Referring to Johor, the prime minister said the development landscape in the state was rapidly changing and this was because there was good planning based on the people’s faith in the government.
He said implemenation of development projects in Iskandar Malaysia had reached the 45 per cent mark while the mammoth oil and gas hub project in Pengerang near Kota Tinggi involving a total investment of RM60 billion would become a reality soon.
Earlier, Najib had made walkabouts around the shoplots, food court and wet market in Taman Setia Indah to mingle with the people before holding a meeting with members of the local community.
At the gathering, the prime minister also announced allocations to revive an abandoned housing project in the area, a mosque for Taman Puteri Wangsa and an additional four-storey classroom block for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Foon Yew in Taman Mount Austin in here.
