KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to make several important announcements in his special message Thursday night in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day.

Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said the speech would be carried live over TV1 and TVi at 8.45pm.

“He will be speaking in front of about 800 people comprising cabinet ministers, senior government officers, members of Barisan Nasional component parties and non-government organisations at Auditorium Perdana, Angkasapuri.

“He is expected to stress on key issues concerning major changes deemed crucial for the government and the country,” he told reporters after chairing a post-cabinet meeting at his ministry at Wisma TV, Angkasapuri, here Wednesday.

Rais called on the people to watch the live telecast of the prime minister’s speech.

He said reactions from leaders including those from Sabah and Sarawak would also be carried live shortly after the speech.

“We are getting the studios in Sabah and Sarawak ready in the event that the chief ministers there would want to give their reactions,” he said.

Rais, who is the chairman of the main organising committee, said the committee was also discussing with other television stations such as Media Prima Berhad to get them to air the speech so that everyone would get to follow the speech.
