Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak met with Prince Bandar Sultan Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Secretary General of the National Security Council of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, sent as a special envoy to deliver several key messages from King Abdullah Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the ruler of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Prince Bandar delivered King Abdullah’s well wishes Dato’ Sri Najib and expressed that King Abdullah was extremely pleased with the close friendship between both countries under Prime Minister Najib’s leadership.
A wide range of issues were discussed between Dato’ Sri Najib and Prince Bandar with a key focus on security and terrorism in the GCC and Southeast Asia. The leaders agreed to denounce all acts of terrorism and terrorist-linked groups in attempting to incite government instability that threatens national security, harmony and peace for the citizens of both Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
Malaysia confirms its support of the actions of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council member states with regard to the situation in Bahrain towards achieving peace, reconciliation and long term stability in the region.
“We fully back all sovereign decisions taken by our GCC allies which have the aim of safeguarding stability and security in the region to ensure harmony and peace for their citizens. Malaysia denounces any terrorist-linked group that undermines the stability and security of a country,” said Dato’ Sri Najib.
In addition, a potential multi-billion dollar economic cooperation package for both countries was discussed with its details to be worked out and announced in due course.
“We are pleased with our wide ranging economic activities with Saudi Arabia thus far and expect to take a major step in further cementing this long-term partnership. I am also pleased to have been informed that PetroSaudi distributed an additional cash profit of USD81.5 million to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) today in conjunction with Prince Bandar’s visit as special enjoy for King Abdullah,” said Dato’ Sri Najib.
