Malaysia Nanban has welcomed the recent statement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak not to neglect the interests of the Indian community, even though the request for two cabinet ministers’ posts was not entertained.
The paper said that in the past 30 years, there have been numerous changes that resulted in many problems and challenges for the Indian community.
The paper added that it has been the long expectation of the Indian community to have two ministers to look into the people’s welfare.
It also hoped the matter would be considered when there was a change in the Cabinet in future.
The paper also welcomed Najib’s call for cabinet members to serve the people efficiently, irrespective of races.
The daily added that all political parties must discard their old policy of serving only their own community, as has been the practice for the 50 years since independence.
The paper, in its closing, urged the people to give full support to Najib’s 1Malaysia concept so the Government could bring about changes which are beneficial to the people.
