KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will officiate the 14th Annual Asia Oil & Gas Conference (AOGC 2009) themed, “Collective Approach In The New Paradigm”, which will be held from June 7-9, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here.

AOGC 2009 will address issues affecting all sectors within the oil and gas industry; especially at a time when the global financial crisis continues to pose grave challenges to the world economy, said Petronas in a statement here today. Among the areas to be discussed will be the issues and challenges involving both the producers and consumers in ensuring energy security and continuous supply; continued geopolitical instability and heightened security concerns in key oil and gas producing regions.

Also on agenda will be the issue of global warming and climate change which could adversely impact future growth in conventional and unconventional oil and gas production; rising costs of exploration and production; and critical talent shortage leading to imbalance of the industry’s investment growth. This annual conference by Petronas is to be co-managed by The Conference Connection Inc; Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER); and PFC Energy.

Among the leaders and speakers expected to attend the event will include heads of multinational companies and corporations such as the chief executive of Royal Dutch Shell, The Netherlands, Jeroen van der Veer, Asean Secretary-General, Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Chairman of PFC Energy, USA, J.
