KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has expressed sadness over the defeat of Malaysian shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei to his arch rival Lin Dan from China in the World Championships final in London.
In his Facebook update, Najib said the match could have been Chong Wei’s crowning achievement after being the second Malaysian to have reached the final which was played at Wembley Arena in the British capital Sunday.
“So close yet so far. I am so sad that Chong Wei lost. It could have been his crowning achievement,” Najib said.
Chong Wei lost 22-20, 14-21 and 21-23 in one hour and 22 minutes.
Malaysian Wong Choong Han reached the final in 2003.
