LONDON: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak arrives here late this evening (Sunday) for a two-day visit during which he will be meeting Malaysian students and touring the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (Oxcis) at Oxford University.

The highlight of his visit will be his lecture, “Coalition of Moderates and Inter-Civilisational Understanding”, at the university’s Sheldonian Theatre.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Malaysian ambassador to Britain, Datuk Zakaria Sulong, told Malaysian journalists at Dorchester Hotel here yesterday that about 600 people from diverse groups, including academicians and captains of industry, will be attending the prime minister’s lecture.

He said Najib was also scheduled to announce Bank Rakyat’s contribution for the creation of Tun Abdul Razak Fellowship at the university.

Oxcis was established as an associated institution of Oxford University to encourage scholarly study of Islam and the Islamic World.

The new Oxcis building on Marston Road was built as a symbol of tolerance between the Islamic world and the West. A major feature of the centre is the 200-seat Malaysia auditorium designed by Malaysians.

His meeting with some 170 students, including those from the university, Oxford Brooks as well as nearby institutions, will be at the Macdonald Randolph Hotel in Oxford.

The Prime Minister and his wife will be attending a dinner held in his honour at Exeter College before departing for New York for a brief working visit.
