SHAH ALAM, Jan 13 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today met grassroots leaders of the Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN).
The closed-door gathering, which started at 8.30am, was attended by 1,300 grassroots leaders, including 894 who are in charge of polling districts in the state.
It also saw the attendance of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Present were Selangor deputy BN chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar, MIC president Datuk G. Palanivel, Selangor MCA chairman Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai and PPP president Datuk M. Kayveas.
The prime minister later performed the Friday prayers with the people at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah mosque.
State Umno secretary Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Zin Mohamed told reporters after the gathering that the prime minister had reminded them of the importance of having an efficient machinery at the grassroots level in the effort to win back Selangor.
He said that the prime minister had also told them that the BN machinery should keep the momentum and high spirit to wrest back Selangor.
The leaders reacted positively to the message and that they had pledged to renew their commitment to further strengthen their machinery, he added.
