PM: Equal rights for all

MIRI: The federal government has approved the allocation of RM107.5 million for the various development plans in Baram, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, during his recent working visit to Sarawak,

Approximately RM100 million will be for upgrading and expansion of the Beluru-Lapok road that spans 42 km connecting to the city of Miri.

Another RM6 million will be used to construct a mini hydroelectric dam to facilitate energy for the community in rural northeastern Sarawakian village of Long Banga, while RM1 million will be used to construct roads connecting the Long Banga airfield to the Long Banga village which spans over 1 km.

The remaining RM500,000 will be used to build a clinic in Long Jekitan located adjacent to Long Banga.

Najib also announced that the federal government had allocated approximately RM14.5 million for upgrades of roads and the construction of five bridges for the residents in Kampung Bekenu.

He also promised equal treatment and opportunities for all Malaysians – from the most remote areas of Sarawak to the urban setting of the Klang Valley and said social justice will be achieved through the 1Malaysia concept of People First, Performance Now.
