JOHOR BARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that another RM100mil will be spent to increase the number of outlets at the Johor premium outlets to 130 from the current 70.
He said that this was due to overwhelming response and, within one year, they expect to attract three million visitors.
Genting Simon Group also plans to build a waterpark, a meeting, incentive, convention and exhibition convention centre and a 2,000 room hotel in the area.
Najib added that the premium outlets would also put Iskandar Malaysia and the country on the world map by luring shoppers, both domestic and regional.
He announced this at the opening of the 70th premium outlet in the world in Kulaijaya, Johor.
Total investments in Iskandar Malaysia has reached RM77bil since its inception five years go.
Najib, who was impressed with the development of the corridor after touring the project by air, described the Iskandar project as the pride of the country.
He later witnessed the exchange of documents among 12 investors and partners.
