KUALA TERENGGANU, Feb 3 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that Malaysians must have confidence in the Barisan Nasional (BN) government’s ability to take care of the people’s welfare and develop the country to achieve developed nation status by 2020.
He said the government had a big agenda which had been planned in detail for the development of the people and country.
“Our ultimate dream is for Malaysia to become a high-income nation even if it is in eight years time. We will be the first developed Muslim country in the world,” he said in his speech at a “Prime Minister With People” event at at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Budiman, Batu Burok, here.
The prime minister said the people must continue giving BN the mandate to rule the country for bigger transformations to take place.
Najib, who is also Umno president, also slammed PAS for making empty promises to win the public’s votes and questioned the party’s efforts when they ruled Terengganu from 1999 to 2004 where little progress was seen.
He said he hoped that the people of Terengganu would not allow the situation to recur in the 13th general election and that the Batu Burok constituency, which has been held by PAS for the past 26 years, would be given to the BN.
The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor for a working visit to Terengganu, also presented 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) worth RM3.6 million to the Batu Burok constituency, Ladang constituency (RM1.4 million), Wakaf Mempelam constituency (RM2.7 million) and Bandar constituency (RM2 million).
