JOHOR BARU: The new Cabinet to be announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will have a strong line-up, said Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong.
“A strong Cabinet is needed to implement development agendas for the benefit of the rakyat,” he said after launching the SMK IJ Convent’s excellence awards ceremony here yesterday.
Dr Wee, who is MCA Youth chief, said that Najib understood the needs of the people and that he could bring a change for the better.
“Najib has already made unexpected announcements. He will lead the nation to a better future,” he said.
Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal said Najib’s leadership would be focused yet dynamic.
“He has proven that he can deliver, for example during his tenure as Defence Minister and also when he was the minister in charge of Felda.
“I believe he will be able to carry out what he has promised,” he said after a meet-the-people session at Rumah Endawie, Nanga Jela, at the Batang Ai resettlement scheme near Lubok Antu yesterday.
In Penang, Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop said Najib was capable of thinking out of the box to meet the country’s challenges.
“Having worked with Najib (who was also the Finance Minister) in the past three to four months, I have discovered that he has a comprehensive plan and has his ears to the ground,” he told reporters after opening the 10th Penang Retired Government Servants Association AGM yesterday.
On the assurance given by former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that the RM4.5bil second Penang bridge project and RM2bil Penang Sentral transportation and logistics hub would proceed, Nor Mohamed said that all states, including Penang, would not be left out under Najib’s leadership.
