KUCHING, March 19 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak hailed the response from the Sarawak people to the joint visit by him and his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to the state Saturday, saying it signalled a good start to their nationwide meet-the-people tour.
“We are optimistic. InsyaAllah, the support for the BN is good,” he told a joint news conference with Muhyiddin at Kuching International Airport, here.
Present was Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
Najib and Muhyiddin arrived here yesterday, their first stop in the nationwide tour which takes place until September.
Both leaders attended a series of programmes with the people throughout the day today, including the “Sejiwa Senada” programme in Serian, about 60km from here.
Najib said through the programme, the government would be able to identify problems faced by the people and solve them at the grassroots level.
On the upcoming Sarawak state election, Najib said, “My usual reminder, either at the national or state level, is that we should make a precise and wise move.”
Najib, who is BN chairman, said the coalition should ensure its machinery was moving actively and conveying precise recommendations, including in coming up with the list of winnable candidates.
