KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 (Bernama) — Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Friday welcomed the apology from Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for his disparaging remarks against Johor recently.
The Prime Minister said the apology meant that Lim admitted to going “beyond the bounds” in his remarks, the record of which had been obtained.
“We have the recording which makes it difficult for him to deny what he did. If he could deny it, he would not have apologised,” he told reporters after chairing an Umno Supreme Council meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre here.
“Many people had asked him to apologise, including Tuanku (Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar). The Deputy Prime Minister (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) had made a strong statement… and he (Lim) has accepted that he made a mistake in this matter,” Najib said.
