KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today visited the wife of Pulau Manis (in Pekan) assemblyman Khairuddin Mahmud at the intensive-care unit of the Neurology Ward, Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).
Zainab Likam, 49, was warded at the hospital on Tuesday for blood clots in the brain.
Najib, who arrived at the ward about 11am, spent 20 minutes at the ward enquiring about Zainab’s condition and talking to Khairuddin and some patients.
According to Khairuddin, his wife had complained of a severe headache while attending a foster children’s programme organised by Universiti Kebangssan Malaysia in his constituency two weeks ago.
He said Zainab was taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital where a medical examination confirmed she had a brain tumour and required surgery.
“She was conscious and ate her lunch as usual after the surgery, but the doctor advised that she be taken to the specialist as there were blood clots in her brain,” he added.
Khairuddin said his wife was then taken to HKL and after surgery yesterday, was in stable condition and expected to be conscious after a few days.
