NANNING, Oct 20 (BERNAMA) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will have a meeting with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao during his working visit here, according to Malaysian Ambassador to China, Datuk Iskandar Sarudin.
The Malaysian prime minister would also have a roundtable dialogue with selected Chinese corporate leaders, he said at a briefing on Najib’s working visit to Nanning.
Najib arrived here Thursday night for a two-day working visit to attend the 8th China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO), at the invitation of his counterpart when Malaysia was invited to be the CAEXPO Country of Honour this year.
Iskandar said, during the 50-minute breakfast meeting with Wen on Oct 21, the prime minister would have an opportunity to further enhance Malaysia-China diplomatic ties, since 37 years ago.
He said, as the Country of Honour, the Malaysian leader was given an opportunity to have roundtable dialogue with selected Chinese corporate leaders, which was the special activity of the expo this year, to attract Chinese investors to Malaysia.
According to Iskandar, Najib is expected to deliver a keynote address at the opening of the CAEXPO, on how China and Asean countries could play a role in maintaining political and economic stability in the region.
The ambassador said it was a pleasure for Malaysia to be invited as the Country of Honour of the 8th China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO), so that it could showcase its economic development and business and investment opportunities to China and Asean countries.
Iskandar said, Nanning was already dedicated to be the hub or gate for Asean countries to enter the Chinese market, and the CAEXPO could be a platform for Malaysia to promote Malaysian products and services to other cities, especially those third-tier or fourth-tier cities in China.
