April 3 (Bloomberg) — Najib Razak, sworn in as Malaysia’s sixth prime minister today, lifted a ban on two opposition publications and said he would free 13 detainees under a draconian law.

“It’s the right time to strengthen the confidence of the people in those responsible for national security and to set priorities on what’s considered threats,” he said in a televised speech today.

A review of the Internal Security Act, which allows for detention without trial, will be started, he said.
