ALOR SETAR, July 24 (Bernama) — A “kenduri rakyat” (people’s feast) is among the progammes lined up for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s one-day visit to Kedah on Thursday, according to Kedah Umno chief Datuk Paduka Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.
He said the lunch event scheduled to be held at the Guar Chempedak public field, was expected to be attended by 10,000 people.
According to him, the prime minister would kick off the visit by visiting the mosque in Taman Wira Mergong which would be receiving a federal allocation of RM1.2 million for an upgrade.
Najib would then make a walkabout at the Pasar Tani Taman Wira located near the mosque and also attend the 100th anniversary celebration of Sekolah Menengah Keat Hwa in Jalan Kuala Kedah, he said.
He said that later in the evening the prime minister was scheduled to address some 10,000 youths at the Pendang mini-stadium followed by a meeting with his (Najib’s) Facebook friends at a leading hotel in Alor Setar.
Before leaving for Kuala Lumpur, Najib is scheduled to attend a dinner with some 3,000 people at ,000 people at Dewan Wawasan Jitra, which is open to the public, he added.
