SERDANG, May 12 (Bernama) — Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak surprised CUEPACS and the Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) with ‘special gifts’.
In appreciation of the contribution and role of the Cuepacs and MTUC to the nation’s productivity, the prime minister announced that either entity would be allowed to operate five 1Malaysia (KR1M) shops to enable them raise their income and ease their financial burden.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, Deputy Human Resources Minister Senator Datuk Maznah Mazlan, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Abu Bakar Abdullah, Cuepacs president Datuk Omar Osman, Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) president Datuk Azman Shah Haron and Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) president Mohd Khalid Atan also attended the event.
Dr Subramaniam in welcoming the announcement said this effort by the government would help reduce the burdern of workers especially those in the lower income group and at the same time, assist the two umbrella unions to raise their income.
