KOTA BAHARU, Jan 24 (Bernama) — Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Tuesday performed “tepung tawar” on 15 Sayang Squad vans to be used by Kelantan Wanita Umno to serve people in the state.
The simple ceremony was held at Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Pengkalan Chepa near here soon after the Prime Minister’s arrival at 11.50am today.
Also present are Kelantan Umno deputy chairman Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Kelantan Wanita Umno chief Datin Rahimah Mahamad.
Earlier, Najib who is also Umno president held a one hour closed door meeting with Kelantan Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.
He then attended the welcoming ceremony for the son-in-law of his Political Secretary Datuk Mohd Fatmi Che Salleh at his house in Jalan Hospital here.
Meanwhile, Rahimah said that the Sayang Squad vans will be used by 14 Umno divisions in the state while the other will be used by Kelantan Umno.
The vans will facilitate Kelantan Wanita Umno’s activities in providing services to people throughout the state.
“Previously, Kelantan Wanita Umno members used their own vehicles to enter kampungs to serve and reduce the people’s burden,” she added.
