HULU SELANGOR, Jan 6 (Bernama) — Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak performed Friday prayer with the congregation at the Jamek Ar-Rahimah Mosque in Kuala Kubu Baharu here amid a tight schedule of his visit to the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency.

The prime minister, wearing a lilac baju Melayu, was received by the mosque committee on his arrival at 1.15pm.

He then performed the “solat sunat” before listening to the sermon and then performed the Friday prayer with a congregation of about 1,000, with Ustaz Mohamad Said as the imam.

The prime minister was then seen putting his signature on the visitors’ book and spent a few minutes talking with the mosque committee and several members of the congregation.

Najib, who is also Selangor Umno Liaison chief, then extended his hand in the “salam” with the congregation and children who had been lining up to get up close with the prime minister and to greet him.

Under the hot afternoon sun, Najib then crossed the road to get to the Barisan Nasional 1Malaysia Service Centre for lunch with state, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Sabak Bernam, Sungai Besar and Tanjong Karang BN component party leaders.

Among those present were Selangor Umno Liaison deputy chief Datuk Seri Noh Omar, its secretary Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed, Hulu Bernam assemblyman Datuk Mohd Idris Abu Bakar and Kuala Kubu Baharu assemblyman Wong Koon Mun.

After lunch, Najib continued with his “turun padang” (going to the ground) programme by officially opening the Karnival Perdana Komuniti 1Malaysia in Bukit Sentosa.

Earlier, Najib began the one-day programme by visiting the Gedangsa Felda scheme and viewing the progress of the Kampung Hassan People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Hulu Bernam.
