PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has always fulfilled the demands of the Indian community to ensure they remained in the mainstream of development said MIC President Senator Datuk G. Palanivel.
Palanivel who is also minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said Najib always had the Indian community’s interest at heart and had shown his commitment towards resolving problems faced by Indians in the country.
“The Prime Minister has done a lot to help the Indians. Sometimes we cannot announce openly. Every time we ask for help, he obliges. The Indian community themselves can feel it now,” he said after opening the Energizing Indian Cooperatives seminar here today.
The seminar organised by the Cabinet Committee for Indians was attended by Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S Subramaniam and more than 300 Indian Cooperatives throughout the country.
As of MIC and the Indian community’s expectation for the 2012 Budget to be announced by Najib who is also the Finance Minister, Palanivel said the party had put forward a number of proposals.
Meanwhile, speaking of Indian cooperative in the country, he said some had done well to remain competitive and profitable.
He added that MIC was in the process of setting up a cooperative called Suriya Cooperative to assist smaller Indian cooperatives in the country.
Najib had said that the 2012 Budget, which will tabled on Oct 7, is set to strengthen the domestic economy and help lessen the burden of rising costs of living.
