KUALA SELANGOR, Feb 26 (Bernama) — Embam Jantan, an 83-year- old Umno member, could hardly contain her excitement over the visit by a VVIP visitor she had today in none other than the prime minister himself.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak called at her home in Batu 6, Kampung Asahan, here as part of his one-day visit to Selangor.
Embam remains a loyal member of the Kampung Asahan Umno branch which she joined when Umno was established by its founder, Datuk Onn Jaafar, in 1946.
“I am truly excited by the visit of the prime minister who spent about an hour at my humble home,” she told Bernama. Embam has 17 children, 56 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Earlier, Najib spent about 20 minutes with members of the Police Family’s Association (Perkep) at the Sabak Bernam district police headquarters.
Accompanying him on the visit were Selangor Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar, Sungai Panjang state assemblyman Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo and Selangor police chief Datuk Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah.
The prime minister performed Zohor prayers at the Kampung Kuantan Mosque.
He is scheduled to wind up his visit to Selangor at a “Ponggal” carnival to be attended by about 50,000 people at the TNB field at Batu 9, Kapar, Sunday night.
