KUCHING, Feb 12 (Bernama) — Efforts to bring development to all races in the country, which has become the agenda of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government, is an ongoing process which has no end, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He said all ethnic groups, including the Bidayuh in Sarawak, were invited to be together with the BN government in realising all the aspirations of the people as had been done previously.
“The struggle is not complete and has no end. We need to bring a lot more progress for all ethnic groups in the country,” he said at a gathering of the leader with the Bidayuh community at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) headquarters, here today.
Najib said only the BN government was capable of championing the cause of all ethnic groups in the country besides having translated all policies into actual implementation.
He said only the BN was capable of fulfilling the aspirations of the people and attending to their needs to ensure a brighter future for them.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the BN did not want the Bidayuh community, who had achieved much progress in the last 40 years, to lag behind the other ethnic groups in the country in future.
“The BN government does not want the Bidayuh community to suffer, we want the Bidayuh to continue to support the BN,” he said.
He also announced the handing over of a RM4 million allocation from the federal government to the DBNA to build a multipurpose hall near the association’s headquarters.
“We don’t forget our friends. The Bidayuh community are BN’s friends, we will keep coming to provide assistance,” Najib added.
