KUALA TERENGGANU: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will attend the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) sports competition prize-giving ceremony as well as its gala dinner here.
The Prime Minister, his deputy and their wives are scheduled to be present at the prize-giving ceremony, which will take place at the Stadium Negeri at about 2.30pm today.
Later at night, Najib will also be present at the competition’s closing ceremony and a dinner billed as Malam Sentuhan Songket at the Taman Tamadun Islam convocation hall here.
Muhyiddin and several Cabinet ministers are also expected to attend the dinner.
Opposition politicians have accused Najib of leaving for overseas during the rally period. This has now proven to be untrue.
Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is Bakti president, along with Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, are expected to give closing speeches before the event, culminating in the Bakti flag handing-over ceremony.
The three-day competition saw 478 participants, who are wives of Barisan Nasional elected representatives, nationwide taking part in badminton and bowling.
Among them are Deputy Prime Minister’s wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abd Rahman, Terengganu Mentri Besar’s wife To’ Puan Noliza Mahmud and Johor Mentri Besar’s wife Datin Paduka Professor Dr Jamilah Ariffin.
