PUTRAJAYA, May 9 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will be attending a 2012 Workers’ Day rally at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang on Saturday (May 12).
Apart from delivering a keynote address to more than 8,000 workers from 200 government departments and the private sector, Najib would also be presenting nine awards including for Excellent Worker, Caring Employer, Competitive Employer, Model Union and Prosperous Plantation in both sectors.
“The rally is held to recognise and appreciate the contributions of workers in national development as well as strengthening cooperation through ‘tripartism’ among the three main parties namely the government, employers and employees,” according to a Human Resource Ministry statement Wednesday.
According to the statement, the theme ‘Innovative Workers the Catalyst for Transformation’ was chosen to recognise the contribution of committed and dedicated workers for higher productivity towards Malaysia as a developed nation by 2020.
Several other activities would also be held including workers’ carnival in which 50 private companies would be offering 3,000 jobs and 50 training centres would also be on display.
Other activities included e-kasih, health screening and blood donation campaign.
