ALOR SETAR, Feb 25 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak arrived here today to begin a one-day visit to Kedah.
Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, were greeted upon arrival at 9.35 am at the Sultan Abdul Halim airport by Kedah Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah and deputy chairman Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir, who is the deputy minister of international trade and industry, as well as other state Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.
Others present included Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and Kedah State Assembly Speaker Datuk Dr Abdul Isa Ismail, who represented Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak.
The first programme on the prime minister’s itinerary is attendance at a gathering organised by the Pertubuhan Seni Silat Pusaka Gayung Malaysia at Modenas in Gurun, about 50 km from here.
Najib is then scheduled to open a Siamese language school at Watt Kampung Titi Akar, Pendang, and attend a carnival with the Siamese community at Watt Nanai, Kampung Tok Set, Pendang.
