PUTRAJAYA, Aug 24 (Bernama) — Datuk Seri Najib Razak today praised the latest mission of young Everest climber and traveller Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin, better known as Qobin, to conquer the ‘mountains of the prophets’, beginning this October.

The prime minister said Qobin’s endeavour to reach the summit of several mountains which had been done by the prophets, would inspire the public, particularly Muslims.

Najib said Qobin could be a role model for the country’s youths as his new mission would require greater mental and spiritual strength rather than physical.

“I congratulate Muqharabbin. He had successfully reached the summit of seven continents with one more to go. God willing, he will achieve his dream.

“I think this expedition can open up our minds and give us more knowledge as these mountains had provided protection for our prophets from the enemies or were locations where they attained prophethood,” he said when launching the ‘Exploration of the Mountains of the Prophets’, at his office, here, today.

Also present was Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.

Qobin said the mountain-climbing expedition covering seven countries, namely Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Egpyt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Russia was expected to end in March.

“This is not about physical endurance but the ability to share the stories of the prophets who went to the mountains to get to know themselves, to find spiritual strength which shaped their being, and to know their God,” he said.

Qobin said two young climbers aged 17 to 18 would be chosen to join the expedition together with a 12-member filming crew.

He said the expedition would be documented in full HD video format for a 30-episode documentary travelodge of 30 minutes each.
