PEKAN: Despite criticisms hurled by the opposition against Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KRIM), the outlets have been enjoying good business due to continuous support from the people.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the criticisms had instead provided free publicity to the KR1M outlets, prompting more people to patronise the premises.
“I encourage them (the opposition) to continue criticising these shops because it has actually helped promote the outlets and attract more people.
“We now have 27 KR1M outlets throughout the country and another 85 will be opened by the end of this year,” he said when opening the Kampung Pulau Serai integrated community housing project here yesterday.
At the function, Najib who is Pekan member of parliament, also opened the country’s biggest KR1M mall in the area.
He said the KR1M outlets had been receiving tremendous support from the people with many of them asking for more outlets to be opened in their areas.
“When I go and meet the people at various locations, the wakil rakyat (elected representatives) would usually ask for KR1M to be opened in their constituencies,” he said, adding that the KR1M at Kampung Pulau Serai had adopted the people’s mall concept.
