KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 (Bernama) — The government wants to see just how serious PAS is about implementing Hudud Law in PAS-administered states, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today.

The Prime Minister and Umno president said that PAS had long talked about enforcing Hudud law, but there has been no change in any state that it controlled.

“We want to see if they are serious or not because the Hudud story is not new. They have been talking about it (implementing Hudud) but it has never happened,” he told reporters after chairing an Umno Supreme Council meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre here.

Najib also denied that he spoke about abolishing the Bumiputra quota in business as claimed by some news portals recently.

What he had said was that Bumiputra entrepreneurs should be more independent and be prepared to work hard to compete with others, Najib said.

“I said don’t depend too much on the quota, that Bumiputra entrepreneurs must be more independent and prepared to work hard to compete with others. I did not mention anything about abolishing the quota,” he added.
