I always enjoy attending the joyous Deepavali celebrations and open house held annually in our nation. This long-standing tradition creates a cordial atmosphere among all Malaysians.
This morning, I attended the Deepavali MIC open house at Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) hosted by MIC President Datuk Seri G. Palanivel, and deputy Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam. It was truly a remarkable event attended by Malaysians from all walks of life. It is through uniquely Malaysian practices such as open house, that we can enhance further the spirit of goodwill and harmony among Malaysians.
As we share the joy of Deepavali together, let us remind ourselves that this Festival of Lights enjoins us to look to the future and embrace it with all our hopes and dreams. To ensure that we as a nation achieve our common dream, the Government takes into account the needs of every community in Malaysia very seriously, including the Indian community.
I call on the Indian community to continue your partnership and trust with the Government based on the concept of “nambikei”. We still have much to do in developing the nation and to help those in need. As such, participation of every community is paramount to achieve our common goal.
In the spirit of 1Malaysia, all Malaysians are in a festive mood again. With that, I take this opportunity to wish “Deepavali Vaalthukal” to all Malaysians of Hindu faith.
