KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (Bernama) — A 50 per cent reduction in toll charges at the Cheras-Kajang Highway, which began last night, has clearly lessened the burden of motorists who ply the highway daily.

The abolition of the RM1 toll at the Batu 9 toll plaza heading towards Kuala Lumpur and 90 sen at the Batu 11 toll plaza was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Thursday.

A survey by Bernama today found the toll cut from RM3.80 to RM1.90 for both ways to be well received by motorists, especially those in the surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, the Umno Government Pensioners Club (KUPEKMAS), in a statement said the toll cut reduced the burden of retirees living in Kajang, Semenyih, Pajam, Mantin and Hulu Langat who frequently used the highway to get to Kuala Lumpur.

KUPEKMAS honorary secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Manan said the move demonstrated the government’s commitment to caring for the interests and welfare of retirees and their families.
