PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak wants you to tell him which of four areas – the education system, public infrastructure, the economy and public safety – that you want to see improved this year.
He has launched a poll on his 1Malaysia website to collect feedback on the four areas.
Visitors to the page are allowed to indicate only one of the four areas as their choice.
The poll, which began at noon yesterday has no expiry date but up to 8pm, 536 visitors had participated, the majority of whom wanted improvement in the economy.
Public infrastructure came second while education and public safety, were third and fourth, respectively.
Those who wish to vote can do so at www.1malaysia.com.my .
V. Navaaraja, 22, an undergraduate, said he preferred improvements to the education system.
“I think the Government should give out scholarships to all deserving students before we lose them to overseas universities,” he said.
Siti Rosmawati Osman chose public safety as she was worried over the high crime rate.
“I hope the Government deploys more police personnel to patrol neighbourhoods and provide better security,” said the 31-year-old housewife.
Arron Tan said such polls were good as they provided opportunities for the rakyat to express their opinions over what they expected from the Government.
“Malaysians should participate and vote,” said the 26-year-old who wanted the economy improved.
M. Pungkody, 41, who uses public transport frequently hoped that the Government would beef up on the service.
“I travel by bus to avoid driving in the massive jam,” she said. “However, I get frustrated because the buses aren’t punctual.”
