Malaysia’s Unique Position In The Region Will Help Qatar To Invest, Says Sheikh Hamad

PUTRAJAYA, Dis 5 (Bernama) — Malaysia’s experience and unique position in the region will help Qatar to invest more in this part of the world, Qatar Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Hamad Jassim bin Jabr Thani said today.

Sheikh Hamad said there were also many opportunities in trade and business in this country for invesment.

“Both countries are very close Muslim nations and we are also very close in our mind on how we can develop relations between both countries, this shows that we will do all that we can to develop relations between Qatar and Malaysia,” he said at a joint press conference after meeting Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and a meeting of delegations from both countries, here today.

Sheikh Hamad is on a three-day official visit to Malaysia which is his first as Qatar Prime Minister.

He said the relationship momentum between both countries had to be kept strong at all time and both countries should encourage people from Qatar and Malaysia to meet and greet each other based on the close relations.

Earlier, during his meeting with Najib, Sheikh Hamad suggested to Najib that Malaysia should open up a National Showroom in Doha and Najib had given his agreement to the proposal.

Total bilateral trade between Malaysia and Qatar this year increased almost 200 per cent to RM3.3 billion and both leaders have also agreed to increase the total trade even further.

Najib then hosted lunch for Sheikh Hamad at his official residence, Seri Perdana, at 2.30pm.
