PETALING JAYA, Dec 22 (Bernama) — The Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KRIM) will be made available at all public universities nationwide.
The concept store is the brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak aimed at providing the masses low-priced but quality products to beat the high cost of living.
Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Universiti Malaya was the first university to have a KRIM outlet on its premises.
“Universiti Malaya is also the first public university to offer the Menu Rakyat 1Malaysia (MRIM), an initiative by the government to reduce cost of living,” he told reporters after the prime minister opened a KRIM outlet and MRIM cafeteria at the country’s oldest university.
The high-quality menu comprises breakfast and lunch and is sold at affordable prices.
“Next year, cafeterias at 17 public universities will sell the MRIM menu,” he added.
