ALL Malaysian Indians, irrespective of their background, must work together to help achieve the 1Malaysia concept, Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam said.

He said Indians now made up about 7.4% of the country’s population.

“As the third largest group, we should be able to achieve success if we work with one common aim and goal,” Tamil Nesan quoted him as saying.

Subramaniam also paid tribute to the Malayalees in the country, saying that they had contributed a lot to the rubber industry.

It was important for the community to be united so that the Government would pay attention to their requests, he told reporters after opening the 34th annual delegates conference of the All Malaysia Malayalee Association (Amma) at the Bukit Merah Laketown Resort in Taiping on Sunday.
