I have always subscribed to the belief that every leader must move with the times. Hence, ever since I took over the administration, I have been using a number of highly accessible platforms – online and otherwise – to engage with you, the rakyat, on issues on the ground and in your hearts.
So when I began to receive numerous requests from my online friends from all across Malaysia to host gatherings outside of Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, I decided to do so. Over the last three weeks, I had been spending my Saturdays visiting different Sarawak, Johor, and Pulau Pinang to meet with the rakyat. Alhamdulillah, I also was able to meet my local online friends during each visit, in small and intimate Mari Berjumpa, Mari Berhubung gatherings.
So far, I have been able to connect with several hundred online friends from these three Mari Berjumpa, Mari Berhubung meet-ups. It is something special to at last be able to meet in person the people who have connected with me on Facebook and Twitter. I get to see you all as real individuals rather than just small profile pictures! I want to thank all who came for the gatherings and I am very touched by the warm reception given to me in Kuching, Kluang, and Bayan Lepas so far. I have been thoroughly enjoying our encounters and look forward to more of them.
More stops will be announced in the near future and invitations to the event will will be sent out. If you have ‘liked’ my Facebook page and want to take our online interactions to the next level, register for Mari Berjumpa, Mari Berhubung. As I made it clear during the recent sessions, if you cannot come to me, I will try to go to you.
