KUALA LUMPUR: The Government Transformation Programme (GTP) led by the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) in the Prime Minister’s Department has registered many ‘firsts’ which have directly or indirectly enhanced the lives of millions of people, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He said the government had broken new ground and was on the verge of greater accomplishments.
“However, we are also mindful that we should not declare victory before achieving our goal of becoming a developed country and, as such, will strive to set higher goals for ourselves moving forward,” he said in the foreword of the 2010 Annual Report of the GTP issued by the Prime Minister’s Department.
Najib said the GTP had seen significant success in all the National Key Result Areas (NKRAs), and the significant achievement in the first year of the GTP was that it brought the winds of change that swept through the entire government machinery.
“It ignited a new passion and enthusiasm among many civil servants as well as challenged others to realise their full potential and responsibility to the ‘rakyat’ (people),” he said.
The prime minister said many of the targets set under the GTP were ambitious – developed through a collaborative process between the best minds in the government and the private sector.
He said the government had shown that in fulfilling the wishes of the people, the government was committed to doing its utmost to deliver positive outcomes.
