KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (Bernama) — The government is ready to extend the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) appeal period, which ends on March 15, to ensure those who are eligible acquire the aid.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said, “Appeals will be entertained until March 15, but we are prepared to extend the period should there be more, so the aid reaches all eligible recipients.”
“BR1M is an effective form of assistance which is appreciated by the people, and eligible individuals whose applications have been rejected may appeal,” he told reporters after chairing the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre here, Wednesday.
As to whether BR1M would be carried out annually, Najib said, “Let’s see what happens, it will be announced in due time.”
The BR1M programme, aimed at easing the burden of the low-income group following the escalating cost of living, has received positive response from Malaysians earning a monthly salary of less than RM3,000.
