KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) — The government will provide a grant of RM2 million to the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) in an effort to produce homegrown golf champions.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said, under the leadership of its new president Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor, it is hoped the association would continue its efforts to enhance the standard of golf in the country.
“To that effect, a contribution of RM2 million will be provided to develop grassroots golfers in this country, to ensure a very well planned and systematic planning for development of golf, with proper coaching and opportunities to play.
“With that, hopefully more Malaysians (golfers) will be able to rise to a higher level,” said Najib at the prize giving ceremony of the Maybank Malaysian Open Golf Championship at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, Bukit Kiara, here Sunday.
