PUTRAJAYA, April 9 (Bernama) — The Finance Ministry today launched the economic stimulus package website which enables the public to get details and latest information on the two stimulus packages announced recently.
The website at www.rangsanganekonomi.treasury.gov.my provides a breakdown of the allocations by ministries and further details for each state.
“The website will detail out the disbursement and where the money is going for the first and the second package as well as the project implementation,” said chief executive officer, project management unit of the ministry, Datuk Mohamad Othman Zainal Azim, said at the launching ceremony here.
He said the website also offered a breakdown of allocations by strategic thrusts and initiatives and provided an avenue for feedback from the public.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in a short message on the website, said: “Malaysians would know and be able to follow the implementation of the various initiatives and programmes that have been formulated to address the economic issues that stemmed from the global financial meltdown.”
According to Mohamad Zainal, the website will be updated weekly and queries from the public will be answered on a regular basis.
To date, a total of RM5.59 billion has been disbursed and 23,543 projects worth RM1.75 billion are already on the ground.
ByÂ the end of this month, all the 38,000 projects under the first stimulus package are expected to be rolled out.
As for the second package, projects totalling RM1.39 billion have been awarded.
The first stimulus package of RM7.0 billion was announced on Nov 4, 2008, and the second RM60 billion package was tabled in Parliament on March 10, 2009.
