KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31 (Bernama) — The Federal Territories should be the best showcase for Malaysia’s development planning expertise and implementation, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He said the Federal Territories mirrored Malaysia to the world and created the first impression of the country for visitors, tourists and investors.
“Indeed Kuala Lumpur as the federal capital and a prime commercial centre, Labuan as an internatioal financial centre and Putrajaya as the federal government’s administrative centre are the pulse of the nation.
“We don’t want our Federal Territories to be well known only for their skyscrapers and all the negative elements associated with urbanisation but instead, for their greenery, cheerful atmosphere and healthy environment.
“(We want) Federal Territories that are strong as knowledge, culture, arts, fashion and culinary centres,” the prime minister said in his Federal Territories Day 2012 message posted today on his blog, www.1Malaysia.com.my.
Najib called on the people to make the Federal Territories as the best place for themselves and their families.
“Let’s make our dream a reality. To create a better future, we should move and work together towards achieving what have been planned,” he said.
