KOTA BELUD, Oct 4 (Bernama) — Sabah Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak said it was inappropriate to manipulate the concept of 1Malaysia in order to fit one’s personal agenda, interest and preference.

He said the 1Malaysia concept, the brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, was introduced with the noble intention of uniting the people of all races and religions in this country.

“Don’t interpret 1Malaysia to suit our interest and liking. 1Malaysia focuses on the people and it is in line with the principle of democracy, that is, government by the people and for the people.

“We may have differences but together, we must contribute to build our nation,” he said in his speech when opening a district-level 1Malaysia seminar, here, Tuesday.

Salleh said the 1Malaysia concept would bring benefits to all citizens, regardless of race and whether they live in the urban or rural areas.

He said the prevailing unity among the people should be strengthened in line with the 1Malaysia concept, which among others, prioritised the interest of the people.
