KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) — The RM500 cash aid announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the 2012 Budget for households with monthly income of less than RM3,000 would be disbursed beginning January next year.
In a statement today, the Internal Revenue Board (IRB), said the cash payout will be made in stages.
The IRB, which has been tasked to implement the assistance plan, said the application forms and registration for the cash assistance will be free but added that the registration of qualified applicants would start only after the forms and the related system are ready.
As at this time, there is also no need for Malaysians who qualify for the assistance to visit the IRB office now but wait till all the procedures are set to go, the IRB advised.
To smoothen the registration process, applicants would also be able to do online registration through the IRB’s website while several government agencies would be also roped in to help.
The terms of application will be announced once the Finance Ministry gives out the guidelines and this will be announced via press statements to all media, IRB said.
The RM500 will be given out via Pos Malaysia counters and selected banks including Bank Simpanan Nasional.
