Kota Kinabalu: Barisan Nasional (BN) must change now in order to meet the aspiration of the people or risk being replaced by the people in the next general election, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak here Saturday night.
He said the last general election on March 8 this year had sent a clear message to the BN leadership, especially in terms of what the people wanted them to do.
“Change we must – if we don’t have the courage to change, the people will change us,” he said at a Hari Raya gathering with Sabah BN component parties at Magellan Sutera, here.
As a political party that is sensitive to the people’s need, Najib, who is also BN Deputy Chairman, said the coalition should also ensure that any changes made are for the better. “We must be able to adapt to the political environment,” he said.
He also advised the BN leaders that in order to be accepted as good leaders they must not over-promise and under-deliver, but “we promise and must deliver.”
